ReplyDeleteSounds cheesy, but I refer back to it all the time; you can't save all the kids, but you will in your career, save one or a few.

ReplyDeleteI find that a good teacher functions most productively when they can find a commom educational/social strand that can be exploited for classroom success. You must know your students, understand their interests, expand on an interest that can be poingnant and work from there.

ReplyDeleteWhen I got the job at Burgard, I wrote to (my future mentor) Dan Danforth for advice. He told me not to take anything the students say to me personally. Probably the best single piece of advice I've gotten so far....
